Opportunities From: Southridge School

Clerical volunteers are 'on-call' for occasional administrative support opportunities at the school. For example, labeling yearbooks, stuffing envelopes, folding, printing, laminating etc. The opportunities are typically during the day and only take 2-4 hours to complete. If you sign-up for this opportunity, you will be contacted for your availability when a specific job is identified.

Volunteers will work together to decorate the Senior School Reception Desk for special occasions throughout the year. They may work as a group, in teams of two or singularly (dividing up the occasions as they see fit) and a two-year commitment is preferred. The decorating can be done on a flexible schedule during appropriate hours while students are either in class or off campus; however, not during peak times (i.e. morning attendance, recess or lunch breaks, pick-up).

The decorations should be simple, welcoming and child-friendly. Volunteers are responsible for providing their own decorations and/or may borrow items already present at the school (which may be limited).

There are nine occasions identified as decorating opportunities (along with the approximate month they occur in): Back to School (September), Halloween (October), Diwali (November), Holiday (December), Lunar New Year (January), Valentines Day (February), Easter (March/April), Springtime (May), Happy Summer (June).

Volunteers will coordinate the installation of the decorations (which will take place within a reasonable time-frame before the occasion) and will ensure the fairly prompt removal of the decor after the occasion.

The welcome family plays a very important role in welcoming their assigned family to the school, introducing them to other Southridge families, answering their questions, helping them to navigate and select volunteer opportunities, and checking in with them regularly throughout the year to ensure that they are transitioning well. Sign up today to let the Volunteer Committee know you are interested in being a Welcome Family for the 2026/27 school year. When pairing is completed in June 2026, you will be contacted if a good match is made. Thank you!
