Junior School Leadership Team Support

Class Parent Priorities:
• Nurture an inclusive and positive community among the families in your child’s class (e.g. organize family and parent social activities).
• Support the Southridge Volunteer Committee by promoting school-based volunteer opportunities with your class families.
• Support the Junior School Administration team and Chair, Junior School Events Volunteerism, and Liaison with parent-involved school-based service initiatives and special events, as needed (e.g. Holiday Hampers, Project Backpack, PYP Feast, MYP Breakfast, Junior School Grade 7 Finale Celebration).
• Assist classroom teachers with any specific requests for support.
• Facilitate optional end-of-school-year teacher appreciation gift fund collection, purchasing, and presenting.
• Read official school communications, including The Wednesday and Ridge posts
• Direct other parents to speak to teachers or administrators if questions or concerns arise about school decisions, policies, guidelines, expectations, routines, or other children’s behaviour.
• Attend optional drop-in sessions with the JS P and VP-SL to ask questions or get clarity.
• Pass on any reoccurring or pressing parent issues to the Junior School Class Parent Coordinator, for sharing with the JS Principal.


Please note: Every Southridge family is responsible for reading The Wednesday, any posts made to The Ridge by teachers or coaches and checking the school calendar in The Ridge to stay up-to-date and informed. Class Parents are not responsible for communicating on behalf of The School or repeating/reposting communications the school has already shared through its official communication channels. Instead, remind families that it is their responsibility to read posts in The Ridge and The Wednesday.


This position is not suitable for new/incoming parents who have a child just starting at the school.
